About

Jeff McCarty is...

I have been called many things in my life.  I have tried to latch on to the prettier descriptive words for the sake of maintaining a sense of self-worth and not having to explain awful terms to my children.  Basically, I am a regular guy, who grew up with a good family in rural Southern Indiana, before launching into the world on my own in order to discover my niche in God's plan.

Along the way, I acquired some degrees in ministry, Biblical counseling, and nursing, as well as some headaches, bumps, and bruises in the school of hard knocks.  After these bruises yellowed, I settled in Louisville, Kentucky.  I work as a nurse, get to be a dad to three very cool kids, a husband to one very hot and talented wife, and a pursuer of all different types of Dairy Queen Blizzards (though Reeses' is my favorite).  I spend my free time attempting to teach and lead a local faith community, reading on my rockin' new Nook, writing, and watching movies with above mentioned super hot wife.

What's This Blog All About?

My aforementioned super hot wife is always telling me that I over-analyze things.  Sometimes I do.  Sometimes I don't.  I have tried and tried to figure out why she says that, but I just cannot figure it out.  I just don't know why.  Maybe it is because...  Oh crap, I am doing it again.

Anyway, "Quacks Like a Christian" is the space I use to analyze (Again, NOT over-analyze!) life, faith, & culture.  Sometimes you will read profound, deep theological articles, BUT most likely on this blog, you will read the musings of a regular guy who is wrestling like you are to become the Christ-follower, husband, dad, and servant I want to and really should be.
